|Aerospace Industry Association of BC|| Firms providing equipment and services
to the aircraft and space technology markets - not aviation, which is airlines,
|BC Biotech|| For firms developing biological,
biochemical and drug related products.
|For firms developing mainly electrical
or mechanical devices for medical applications.
|BC Photonics Association|| The BC Photonics Association's
membership comprises companies that have technologies related in some way
to light and optics - especially laser applications and imaging, but including
a very wide variety of applications and markets.
|Wireless Innovation Network|| WIN's mission is to foster collaboration
of early-stage British Columbia companies in the wireless technology field.WIN
has a newsletter and holds educational and networking events.
|The Canada West Telecom Group||
The Canada West Telecom Group is a marketing alliance of telecommunications suppliers in Western Canada.The members actively use it as a vehicle to share sales costs and personnel, as well as information and sales leads, for developing export markets. They have a CWTG trade show booth in which all the companies are represented and small groups of members form to take turns manning the booth on behalf of all the members. They will have the CWTG booth at about 12 trade shows in 2004.
|New Media BC||"New Media BC is a not-for-profit
association whose vision is to build BC as a center of excellence in the
digital, interactive industry. Through networking events, Special Interest
Group seminars, advocacy work, and marketing, New Media BC is building the
new media community locally and promoting it abroad."
|Canadian Information Processing Society (CIPS)||CIPS is the technical professional
association for Canada's IT industry. CIPS is organized on a national, provincial
and local basis. CIPS has local chapters for organizing local activities
in major cities across Canada, including Vancouver and Victoria.
|Canada IT.com Website||A national organization, its website
is organized into geographic regions, BC being one of them. It provides
links to many Canadian I.T. companies and news of interest to the IT sector.
|Canadian Manufacturing and Exporters Association (CME)||The CME is a national organization
that was formed in 1996 from the joining of the Canadian Manufacturers'
Association and the Canadian Exporters Association. It is now Canada's largest
industry association. Its BC branch is very active and puts on excellent
networking and educational events, focusing on both exporting and manufacturing.
In these regards it is very relevant to much of the high tech industry.
|Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)- Canada|| The IEEE is a non-profit, technical
professional association of more than 377,000 individual members in 150
countries. In BC, local activities are organized by chapters in Vancouver
Through its members, the IEEE is a leading authority in technical areas ranging from computer engineering, biomedical technology and telecommunications, to electric power, aerospace and consumer electronics, among others.
|The Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC||This is the professional organization
that legally licences engineers and geologists in the Province of British
Columbia. A large and active organization serving the profession.
